IT’S 2026!!!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay! It’s 2026! Are you excited as I am that we get to see the New Year in good health and strength? That’s such an underrated blessing! This year I turn 33 and we are gradually growing old, which is a good thing if you ask me?!

Last year a lot of things happened in this part of our world, precisely Ghana and we were met with lots of untimely deaths as well as celebrations. There were lots and lots of gains, and very notable losses.

One of my highest moments was winning the 40 under 40 Achiever’s Award in the category of Authorship and Creative Writing! This was such a huge feather in my cap, after years of self-doubt and unwavering perseverance. It made me feel seen, heard and understood, because 6 years of being a published author is no small feat! Congratulations again to me!

Let me share one of my lows. In February of 2025, I fell seriously ill, and it took the hand of God to restore me. I had severe headaches, neck pains, stomach ache, and general body weakness. I still remember how I almost thought this was the end, when two weeks later I hadn’t recovered.I had never been sick for such a prolonged period, and it was so frightening!

The year was generally good for me, as I launched two books I had previously written, 30 Things I’m Grateful For and Broken For Purpose. I also took some drastic decisions, like taking a break from church to focus on personal relationship with God, and self-development.

If there’s anything I will leave with you in 2026, it is this:

  1. Trust your intuition. If something or someone feels off, it probably is. I lost some friendships in 2025. Some of them really did me dirty, so I’ve learnt to trust my instincts when they signal danger.
  2. Stop shrinking yourself to fit in places you’ve outgrown. I had a lot of seasons in 2025, and one of those were seasons where I’d just feel a strong nudge to leave places that were making me feel small and worthless.
  3. Figure out why you’re here on earth and live life purposefully. I’m all about purpose.Purpose. Purpose. Allow me to drum home the point because with the rate at which things are moving, you need to live everyday for God and as if it’s your last, because one day it would be.
  4. Take good care of your health; your body will serve you well in old age if you treat it better now. Remember how i took ill? I was diagnosed with typhoid. Nobody told me to make certain lifestyles changes afterwards, I changed my drinking water and the kinds of foods I eat just at the mere thought of what I went through.
  5. Start thinking about legacy. A good father leaveth inheritance for his children’s children. I use to be such a spender that I would sulk on rainy days, today I’m saving for emergencies and life insurance.
  6. Get close to your Maker. Pursue relationship over religion. I used to attend church many times in the week just because it was my safe space. Now I’m not running away from my problems, but confronting them head-on, and I’m spending more time in the Word than in the world.
  7. Do things differently. If you’ve done things the same way and yielded the same results, it’s time to do things differently. In 2025, I was stuck in a business that was not working, so I’m doing things a lot different now.
  8. Pay attention to those who have stuck with you through the years. I have a lot of friends who have gone rogue and those who are actively involved, but I’m using discernment now to observe patterns and those who have been consistent with me.
  9. Cultivate the spirit of excellence. Everything you do, do it well. I did so much in 2025 and every opportunity that presented itself, I gave my all to. I admonish you to do same.
  10. Pray. Ask God to show you mercy. Mercy is when you ask God for His undeserved and compassionate kindness. It is a prayer for all seasons and all reasons, because none of us know what tomorrow holds. But one thing is sure: we know Who holds tomorrow and we will put our trust in Him.
