When I went through a difficult time in my life, I

found that there were women I could count on to

walk me through my struggles. It was hard if you

asked me, but these women held me up in prayer,

encouraging me with words of hope and peace.

So I ask, Who is standing behind the curtain for

you to be successful? Who is holding the door open

for you to walk through? Who will lift you up when

you are down with all your worries? Who will be by

your side when it’s not convenient? Certainly not

that pretty object!

Diamonds shine and sparkle.

Books liberate your mind.

Chocolate makes you happy.

Makeup lifts your mood.

Dogs make you feel safe.

Love makes your world go round.

Shoes make you feel confident.

Money pays your bills.

Career makes you feel secured.

But a girl’s best friend will always be there for her.

Your self-esteem will suffer discouragement at

some point.

Your shoes won’t matter when you are depressed.

Depending on a partner is a thing of the past.

Even your children who you adore may have their

own limitations.

Women need each other and once we lose sight of

this all-important bond, we tend to give in to men

who do not value the grace we carry.

If only I had that girl’s support group I have today, I

wouldn’t have trauma bonded. I would have learnt

that love does not come with pain.

As women, we need friendship and a support

system. We need friends that will empower us

and nourish us. Friendship is so valuable. It has

immense benefits for your mental and physical

health.

Don’t make the same mistake I made—cutting your

friends off just because you got married or your

spouse is your best friend.

Having a female best friend who will be real with

you, letting you see things from an objective point of view should not be compromised.

When your heart recognizes pain as being familiar and comfortable, you dramatically struggle to leave a place that you know is bad for you.
